Summer is and has always been my favorite season. I love the warm weather, beach trips, lazy pool days, frozen drinks, rooftops, late summer nights and – of course – my birthday. When summer unofficially ends after Labor day, I start mourning it even though the weather stretches on for several more weeks (hello, global warming).
The start of fall is bittersweet for me. I DO love fall – the colorful leaves, hot latte szn, cinnamon spice everything – but I have never really understood the hype of fall fashion. Literally EVERYONE I know is obsessed with it and waits all year for it! I must be the only one who feels like summer fashion is where it’s at: bright colors, lots of skin showing, and all the tropical vibes. It is just screaming Alana!!
Since the weather takes a long time to catch up to actual fall, September is the perfect time to rock a transitional wardrobe. My favorite way to do this is add a couple key pieces to my summer clothes for those nights and mornings that are a little chillier than they were a month ago.
Transitional seasons like fall and spring really force you to get creative to keep up with the bipolar weather, and think of combos that you wouldn’t wear in the totally hot months or totally cold months. For instance, I might wear a summery tank top and white Air Force 1’s paired with some loose ripped mom jeans instead of jean shorts, or a cute summer dress and sandals paired with my favorite tropical print Zara jacket. Another go-to summer to fall “hack” is to just buy fall clothes in bright summery colors, so that you have that summer vibe all year!
