Happy first day of June y’all! Anyone else feel like summer came really fast? We literally just got our last snowstorm a couple months ago! Since I was in Israel for most of April, that month flew by, and May was super busy so it went quickly too! Although I am (obviously) elated that it is finally summer – any other summer babies out here? – it also means that the year is halfway over and is forcing me to reflect on the progress of my goals and intentions for the year. #BYOB Retreat Recap & Reflection

This past weekend, I attended the “Build Your Own Brand Retreat” in DC: a networking conference for entrepreneurs, creatives and small business owners. I initially heard about the retreat a few months ago through my boyfriend, but wasn’t planning on attending since I did not have the funds for a ticket. Luckily, he ended up hearing about a free ticket through one of his friends a few weeks before the event, and passed it along to me. I knew it would be a good opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and learn a lot, so I gladly took the free ticket and blocked off Memorial Day weekend for the conference. April Book Review

The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish I honestly did NOT like this book at first. Even though I hadn’t seen Girls’ Trip or anything else with her in it (as far as I know), I saw previews for this book months ago and was just really excited to read it. Within the first couple pages I could tell her writing was going to annoy me. As she explains early on in the book, she had a rough childhood and didn’t learn to read until 9th grade. Although I appreciate the fact that she wrote in her authentic voice, her writing style and (lack of) editing really got on my nerves and almost made me put the book down! Nonetheless, I kept reading and I am glad I did. She is hilarious and has some WILD stories. In one chapter, she talks about how her ex was pimping behind her…

It feels like I just posted my April Spotify playlist last week…I swear April was literally two seconds!! I was in Israel for most of the month, and by the time I got back, the rest of April just flew by. Anyway, I am excited for a new month with new goals and new intentions. Although two weeks is really not long enough to do everything in a city like Tel Aviv, I was fortunate enough to have a cousin that lives right in the city center, affording me easy access to plenty of great bars, restaurants, shops and other fun things (like the beach!) Here are some of my favorites: C A F E S  //  R E S T A U R A N T S  Little Prince Bookshop: Super cute and chill library-themed cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating. They have thousands of books on their shelves, in Hebrew and English, although I am not sure if you are allowed to borrow them! Olive Korner: Located right on the corner of the street, this cafe has the perfect outdoor seating area for people watching. I ordered the lamb shish kebab plate, which was great but not AMAZING.
