April Book Review

The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish I honestly did NOT like this book at first. Even though I hadn’t seen Girls’ Trip or anything else with her in it (as far as I know), I saw previews for this book months ago and was just really excited to read it. Within the first couple pages I could tell her writing was going to annoy me. As she explains early on in the book, she had a rough childhood and didn’t learn to read until 9th grade. Although I appreciate the fact that she wrote in her authentic voice, her writing style and (lack of) editing really got on my nerves and almost made me put the book down! Nonetheless, I kept reading and I am glad I did. She is hilarious and has some WILD stories. In one chapter, she talks about how her ex was pimping behind her…

May Spotify Playlist

It feels like I just posted my April Spotify playlist last week…I swear April was literally two seconds!! I was in Israel for most of the month, and by the time I got back, the rest of April just flew by. Anyway, I am excited for a new month with new goals and new intentions. So excited in fact, that I am dubbing it #ManifestMay! Who else is with me?? I am really trying to buckle down and get a job by the end of the month. I just need to make it happen already. What are you guys trying to manifest this month? Let me know in the comments, and obviously give my May Spotify playlist a listen! April Spotify Playlist

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I am flying to Israel tonight!!! After 7 long years since my Birthright trip, I am finally returning to the Holy Land. If you are not Jewish, the best way I can describe my/our relation to Israel is by saying it is like Wakanda for Jews. I KNOW that is controversial and some may argue that sentiment, but shut up. This is my blog post and I will say what I want! Anyway, I am going to stay with my cousin/best friend/other half for two weeks in Tel Aviv, where she lives right by the beach. I am fully planning on spending the entire two weeks tanning at the beach and stuffing my face with hummus, falafel and schawarma. DON’T JUDGE ME! While you are sitting at home being jealous of me, you can vibe out to this playlist. Enjoy! 💕 [spotifyplaybutton play=”spotify:user:leoladie23:playlist:2FRbtDYO5F0kLC5BMUkgVe”/]…

March Book Review

Welcome to the first installment of my monthly book review! I will attempt to keep consistent, since I do read a good number of books per month, but don’t shoot me if I miss a month and have to lump a bunch together in one post! All of the books in this review are written by and about Black people, both Africans and Black Americans. This collection of books was quite fitting for Black History Month, although that is not why I chose them. I have been actively searching for books and novels in my library that are written from a different perspective, and I found these to be the most interesting. All book titles are linked to an Amazon listing. My Life, My Love, My Legacy by Coretta Scott King I am writing this review before I even finish the book, because I am already that moved by it!…

March Spotify Playlist

It’s the first day of March, and you know what that means: Spring is almost here!!! After my first winter in six years, to say I’m excited for Spring would be a huge understatement. My soul is longing for sunshine and warm days, my skin is screaming for melanin, and my Spring clothes are itching to come out and play. But what I’m most excited for are the cherry blossoms! Every Spring, DC explodes into a burst of pink trees, including the one right outside my bedroom window. It’s been years since I was here during the Spring to see the Cherry Blossom Festival, so I am just all around super hype for this month and next! What is your favorite part of March and/or Spring? Let me know in the comments below! Anyway, regardless of what this month brings, here is a playlist to vibe out to. Enjoy! 💕 [spotifyplaybutton…
