Miami Travel Blog: Part I

This trip to Miami was looong overdue – it had been over seven years since my last trip down there! I am pretty sure the last time I went to Miami was for Ultra Music Festival, and let’s just say I have changed a lot since then. Needless to say, I was eager to revisit the city, spend some time at the beach, and just get out of the cold in DC for a minute! The original impetus for this trip was Art Basel, but that wasn’t the main reason for going. My best friend from San Diego has been living back home in Tampa most of the year, building up a van to move back to the West Coast in. Art Basel fell right in between her 30th birthday and when she planned to leave the East Coast, so the timing just ending up being too perfect not to…

Saying Goodbye to Summer and HE-LLO to Fall!

I don’t know about y’all, but this summer was a ROLLER coaster for me! Since the summer officially started in June, I have gone through a breakup, had a birthday, gotten into multiple blowout fights with my family (that I live with), gone to NYC twice, started a new job, ended that same job, been depressed at least once and also had countless weekends filled with friends and fun. SHEESH! I am exhausted just typing that sentence! Before I get too much into fall planning and looking ahead, I want to reflect on what I have done the last few months. Some of y’all might have read my summer bucket list post a few months ago, so I will go through that and see what I can check off Outdoor concerts and festivals – finally made it to one (Trillectro) on the LAST day of summer! Trip to NYC – twice! Once…

Curl Fest 2018 & Birthday Weekend Recap

I had the pleasure of attending the 5th Annual Curl Fest last weekend, hosted by Curly Girl Collective in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Although this was my first time attending, I had been dying to go since I saw people posting about it on Instagram last year, and was determined to go this year! As soon as I found out it would be the weekend before y birthday, I KNEW I had to go. Luckily, two of my girlfriends that went last year hit me up about going, so we got to planning right away. Clearly the universe was conspiring to make this weekend perfect: we found the CUTEST AirBnB in Brooklyn – literally across the street from the park – less than two weeks before the event! The bus that my friends took was too early for me, since I had a pre-birthday dinner the night before and got a…

Summer Bucketlist

Happy Summer Solstice! Today marks the first “official” day of summer, and also the longest day of the year, so it is the perfect time to sit and think about what I want to do this summer. We all wait for summer all year long, and I think it is safe to say everyone loves summer! Especially if you have a summer birthday like me (July 23, where my Cancers and Leos at??) and tend to be in celebration mode all summer! I had a pretty boring summer last year, so I am more determined than ever to make this one super fun! I have been here for a year now (exactly a year as of last Saturday!), and so I finally have enough friends and know DC well enough that I can plan some stuff out and really enjoy my summer. Here is my bucket list for the summer…

#BYOB Retreat Recap & Reflection

This past weekend, I attended the “Build Your Own Brand Retreat” in DC: a networking conference for entrepreneurs, creatives and small business owners. I initially heard about the retreat a few months ago through my boyfriend, but wasn’t planning on attending since I did not have the funds for a ticket. Luckily, he ended up hearing about a free ticket through one of his friends a few weeks before the event, and passed it along to me. I knew it would be a good opportunity to meet like-minded individuals and learn a lot, so I gladly took the free ticket and blocked off Memorial Day weekend for the conference. As you probably have already guessed, I did NOT regret going at all! From the moment I arrived, I felt energized, inspired, and just blown away by the level of excellence at the retreat. People not only flew in for all…
