If you haven’t yet, make sure you read Part I of my Miami trip recap! If you are all caught up, then continue reading below:
Day 4:
Sunday morning I woke up ready for another day at the beach, but Bumble boy insisted on going to the gym – AGAIN! I was like FFS you are already so fit, take a day off! He was determined to go, and I was determined not to get left alone all day again, so I just decided to go with him. After walking about a mile in 80something degrees and high humidity – plus an intermission for him to smoke this short dude with pigtails that challenged him to a one-on-one – I was already exhausted by the time we got to the gym! Normally I eat before working out, but he convinced me to just drink coffee instead, so I was running on fumes.
I actually had a really good workout, and felt GREAT after, albeit V hungry. We walked toward the beach to get acai bowls and chit chat with his friends that work in the tattoo shop above it. I was getting my life from being outside in just shorts and a crop top, relishing the refreshing acai bowl and flashing back to my own beach life in San Diego.
Eventually we walked back to his apartment, stopping for iced coffee on the way. We were duped into ordering holiday flavored drinks, which were not only disgusting but even worse on a hot humid day. I had about three sips and threw it out lmao. Anyway, after we got back and showered, I made sure he didn’t forget that he promised to take me to Wynwood to walk around and take pics since I agreed to the gym.
Once we got there, it was already super close to sunset, so I basically dragged him around from one mural to the next to take as many pics as I could with the remaining sunlight. Since it was the last day of Art Basel, there were TONS of people walking around Wynwood still – in and out of bars, restaurants, and art exhibits – and it felt like a block party!
Unfortunately, I didn’t get as many pics as I would have liked (especially with my cute matching lime green outfit!), but I knew I was going to return with my friend when she got there in a couple days, so I wasn’t tripping. We did manage to catch a dirtbike stunt show kinda situation, which Bumble boy got super hype about because he loves bikes. He asked one of the kids to borrow a bike and rode up and down the block doing wheelies, obviously getting his whole life!
After that, I stopped in a restaurant to use the restroom while Bumble boy talked to this hulk dude outside, then told him to meet me at the bar because I wanted to get a drink and some food. The decor inside the restaurant was everything, and the outdoor bar/patio was even BETTER! Luckily (and surprisingly, cuz this is rare), the food and drinks matched the amazingness of the aesthetic!
Bumble boy didn’t order anything at the bar, so we stopped at a sidewalk bbq joint afterward for him to get some food. After inhaling it in about .002 seconds, he went to a gelato shop for dessert, getting a piece of cake topped with gelato. I passed because I don’t eat dairy, and shockingly didn’t want any dessert. Next, we went to a super cool bar called Wood Tavern, which was an indoor/outdoor bar that had dope music the perfect mix of chill bar vibes and fun house party vibes.
Bumble boy ordered two giant cookies on the way into the bar at their little food counter, which I think was a little extra after eating dessert, but who am I to judge? I went to get a drink at the bar, which he paid for even though he doesn’t drink (how cute!). While I was sipping on that, he went back and got two MORE cookies! And listen y’all – these cookies were HUGE! Now I was judging 🤣
As soon as he finished the last cookie, he immediately needed to sit down. He said he had really bad itis, and probably had a vicious sugar high too. Luckily, there were wooden bleachers on the outer walls of the bar, where tons of people were sitting to chill and smoke while still enjoying the music, so we didn’t have to completely sit out the fun to sit down. However, I was really in the mood to dance (as I always am when I go out), and started to get annoyed the longer we sat there. He refused to get up, and I was actually mad about the cookies now!
We decided to just leave the bar after a certain point and drove back to Miami Beach to meet up with his friend. He parked outside CVS, so I went in to get a drink. As soon as I turned my head for one minute, he went to the ice cream freezer to get something! I went over and literally slapped it out of his hand. The rest of the night consisted of going to Five Guys to share a large order of cajun fries, then going back to the apartment and passing out from food comas.
Day 5:
I woke up super excited because my best friend from San Diego was finally getting into Miami that day! She landed at 7 or 8, but didn’t get to the condo we were staying until around 11. As soon as she gave me the word, I packed my stuff up, said goodbye to Bumble boy, and hopped in a Lyft to the condo.
The place we were staying was owned by my friend’s “sugar daddy”, who I had met in San Diego once before. I say “sugar daddy” because she has known him for over a decade and they have never hooked up or anything like that, but he spoils her and buys her food and drinks and flights (you know, small stuff like that) and is generally really generous with her AND her friends. Basically the unicorn of sugar daddies! And from meeting him prior, I knew he was super cool and chill and not creepy at all!
When I arrived, I was expecting it to be just my bff and her friend (who I had never met but had facetimed many times), and was surprised to find not only the sugar daddy was there, but so were two of his sugar babies (one of whom I had met, the other was her twin). I was not only so excited to see my friend and didn’t care who else was there, but I was actually happy to have a big fun group to hang out with!
The six of us rented bikes and biked up the beach path to visit the Museum of Ice Cream, which we were devastated to find out had closed six months ago! The bike ride was still super fun so it wasn’t a total waste, but we didn’t wanna bike right back. Instead, we walked across the street to the Faena Hotel, which had an insanely stunning lobby and back patio/restaurant. We stayed for an hour or so, getting lunch and drinks (which sugar daddy treated us to), and taking some dope pics.
After lunch, the twins went back to the condo to grab their stuff and head back to Tampa, and sugar daddy went with them to go get some work done. Bff, other friend and I walked down to South Beach to explore, get another drink and some more food. We picked a random touristy restaurant on Ocean Ave, sitting at one of the tables on the sidewalk. The food and drinks were both crappy and overpriced, but it was a great people watching spot!
We walked the five or so blocks back to the condo to chill for a while before dinner. After getting dressed up and taking some pics, we all got in an Uber and headed to Espanola Way for dinner. I had walked past it during the day over the weekend, but returning at night for dinner was so different – all the lights were on and it was SO pretty and romantic!
We found the Italian restaurant my bff and sugar daddy loved, and grabbed a table outside. After getting a pitcher of mojitos, a platter of oysters, a charcuterie board and some (really weird) octopus carpaccio, we decided it was WAY too cold to sit outside and asked for a table inside.
Once we were warm and cozy inside, we got our entrees – four HUGE plates of different types of pasta. I am not even a pasta person (or a big fan of Italian food, tbh), but the lobster linguini I ordered was to DIE for! I ate every last bite of it – and the glass of wine I ordered to go with it. After our pasta, we got an order of tableside tiramisu, which they made – yup, you guessed it – at our table. I tossed my dairy intolerance to the side to try some, because it looked THAT bomb.
Sugar daddy of course covered the bill, which was super sweet and also such a treat because I never go on fancy dates like that! It was even better going on a fancy date with my best friend AND knowing that the person paying has no expectations in return! Win-win if you ask me.
We all hopped in another uber and went back to Ocean Ave to check out this salsa bar for a bit. It was fun for a little while, but it was super touristy and smokey and we were tired, so we called it quits and headed back to the condo. Bff and I made our “beds” on the giant couch and passed out, exhausted from a fun and amazing day!
Day 6:
Sugar daddy left Tuesday morning, leaving us to our own devices. After getting up and getting dressed for a full day of adventures, we grabbed the keys to sugar daddy’s Benz and drove to North Miami for an authentic Cuban breakfast, recommended by my cousin’s friend from Miami.
The breakfast was BOMB – we all ordered the same thing, right down to the cuban coffee and carrot-orange juice – and we were stuffed after! The things we ordered were all cheap, but we were shell shocked when the bill came and the juices were TEN DOLLARS EACH! I told my cousin’s friend and she yelled at me for ordering it 🤣 Oh well, still worth it!
After breakfast it was back to Wynwood! Since I had been there a couple days before, I was showing them around, but also trying to explore and find some new stuff I hadn’t seen yet! It was WAY less busy than over the weekend, but still had a decent amount of people walking around.
We took a MILLION pics of and with each, which made me happy and satisfied after not getting enough the previous visit. We spent several hours walking around, snapping pics, and getting coffee. By the time we got back to the car, we were SPENT!
It took a while to get back to the condo cuz of traffic, and we were starving once we did! Luckily, we had a bunch of rice and beans left over from breakfast, so we split it into three bowls and crushed it. Satiated for the time being, we chilled for a little bit before deciding on a spot to get dinner before other friend had to leave for her flight.
We walked several blocks through the bitter cold (low 50s lol) to this ramen and sushi spot we were salivating over, only to discover it was CLOSED! We almost cried, but quickly regrouped and went to a taco spot a few blocks down. It wasn’t AMAZING – few taco places are now that I am a taco snob from living in Southern California aka North Mexico – but it hit the spot and sufficed for the last supper.
Other friend left, and bff and I went back to the condo to chill the rest of the night. She fell asleep watching TV, and I packed, showered, and passed out early too to get ready for my early flight the next morning. She wasn’t leaving until that night, so she stayed behind, happy to have a solo day in Miami before going home.
I was really sad to leave, not only because I felt like I didn’t have enough time there, but I knew it would be the last time I would see my bff for a while! I originally bought the early flight on Wednesday because she was planning to drive from Tampa and didn’t want to drive back at night, but ended up flying because sugar daddy bought the flight, and booked her return flight for Wednesday night (when I wanted to leave).
I kind of brushed it off as a given – I never feel ready to go home after a fun trip, especially going from a warm place back to somewhere cold – but it really hit me when I landed in Maryland. Not only was it freezing here, but bff texted me saying it was the PERFECT beach day there. Crap!!!
I’m not even ashamed to admit that I legit started crying at the airport. I had no reason to be back that day, and was so pissed I didn’t just buy a new return flight to stay longer. Luckily, Bumble boy said I am welcome anytime, and since weekend flights to Miami are cheap AND convenient to buy last minute, I might just take him up on that!
Stay tuned for more adventures 😘
