As many of you know from Instagram, I FINALLY moved into my own studio apartment at the beginning of October! I spent the last three and a half years living with my family – since moving back to the DMV from San Diego – so it was WELL past time to move out. My apartment in San Diego was a two bedroom, so I was often home alone, but I dealt with SO much roommate drama (and just so many roommates!), so I knew when I moved out again, it HAD to be alone.
Luckily for me, I found the studio of my DREAMS and was able to move in earlier this month! The move itself was so seamless: my older brother helped me move my stuff in one small U-haul truck, which we were able to pull right up to the loading dock and bring everything up the elevator, and also had a rolling cart to help. I didn’t have all that much to move, because all I brought was my bed and box spring, my small desk, my small loveseat, a few small shelves, and several boxes (and plants!). Everything else I either left for a later trip or left at the house to store there.
Because I was just moving from my parents’ house in Rockville to Silver Spring, it was very convenient to make a couple trips that day and the next. I also knew that I could leave as much as I wanted to at the house in my old room, so I intentionally brought only as much as I could put away each time, and then went back for more. My apartment has a TON of storage, which is so crucial in a studio, so I have been able to unpack easily and keep things super organized! But obviously space is still limited, so for now I will only keep what I need here and everything else at my parents’ house.
