Israel Travel Blog: Weeks 2 & 3

Click here to read Part One Day 8: After a busy few days, my cousin and I chilled SUPER hard on Tuesday. We both slept in, did some random shit around the apartment (I blogged and she cleaned), then finally went out to get lunch around 2:30. We were both HANGRY, so we just walked to a spot near her house. It was super cute and the food was good, but I definitely wasn’t blown away by it. We took another way back to her place, wandering through some pretty side streets and taking a few photos. The rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning her apartment so we could FINALLY sleep her in room again (see my last post for explanation), then chilling for a couple hours in her nice clean space. One of her friends that I met my first day was leaving Israel the next day, so…

Israel Travel Blog: Week One

Israel Travel Blog: Week One

Day 0: Even though I packed everything the day before, I still felt rushed and stressed to do a bunch of stuff last minute before my flight. Does anyone else feel like that’s just a law of traveling? If you don’t get stressed out at the last minute, are you even a traveler? Anyway, I am glad I decided to go to the gym, because as soon as I left I got a text saying my flight was delayed. At first I was relieved, because that meant more time to shower, change and do my last minute stuff without having to rush after the gym. But I quickly realized that it could also completely fuck me over if it made me miss my connecting flight from JFK to Tel Aviv. After the saga with my mom getting stuck in NYC for two days over a cancelled 1-hour connecting flight home…

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Skincare Review

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Skincare Review

I recently became a Shea Moisture Ambassador, which means I get several boxes of products in exchange for posting about them on social media. I have been a huge fan of Shea Moisture for a while now, so I was beyond ecstatic to be chosen for the ambassador program! Although they do not require us to write blog posts about the products, I wanted to give y’all a more thorough review than I could fit into an Instagram caption. I was super excited to receive my first box after weeks of waiting, and felt like a little kid bringing it inside and opening it up! If I’m keeping it real, I was a bit disappointed that it was skincare products instead of haircare products. At this point, I have my skincare faves and my routine down to a science, whereas my hair journey is very much in its experimental phase…

April Spotify Playlist

I can’t believe I am saying this, but I am flying to Israel tonight!!! After 7 long years since my Birthright trip, I am finally returning to the Holy Land. If you are not Jewish, the best way I can describe my/our relation to Israel is by saying it is like Wakanda for Jews. I KNOW that is controversial and some may argue that sentiment, but shut up. This is my blog post and I will say what I want! Anyway, I am going to stay with my cousin/best friend/other half for two weeks in Tel Aviv, where she lives right by the beach. I am fully planning on spending the entire two weeks tanning at the beach and stuffing my face with hummus, falafel and schawarma. DON’T JUDGE ME! While you are sitting at home being jealous of me, you can vibe out to this playlist. Enjoy! 💕 [spotifyplaybutton play=”spotify:user:leoladie23:playlist:2FRbtDYO5F0kLC5BMUkgVe”/]…

Learning to Bloom Even When the Flowers Aren’t

Learning to Bloom Even When the Flowers Aren’t

When I moved to the West Coast, I had to internalize the rhythm and the feeling of the seasons. Since the weather is nice almost year round, there is barely any indication that the seasons have shifted at all. Now that I am back on the East Coast, where the weather will LET you know what season we are in, it is definitely easier to keep track. However, this week’s blizzard (on the second official day of Spring) is proof that the correlation between weather and season is not always accurate. What I have found to be a more important indicator than weather, though, is the ebb and flow of energy that take place, which naturally coincide with the seasons. Like the phases of the moon, there are four distinct seasons. In the Winter, we are naturally more introspective, storing energy and “hibernating”; it is a time of initiation, setting intentions,…
