Travel Guide: Rehoboth Beach

I took a trip to Rehoboth Beach, DE a few weeks ago and had an amazing time! It wasn’t the most exotic or exciting trip of my life, but after the year we have had, it was exactly what I needed: relaxing, chill and fun! If you are planning a trip to Rehoboth before the end of summer or still need trip ideas for Labor Day Weekend, keep reading!

Stay

We stayed at Quality Inn & Suites (don’t ask who “we” is, mind ya business!) in Rehoboth Beach on Coastal Highway. It was about $400 for three nights, plus taxes, fees and a refundable deposit. We went Tuesday to Friday, so it may be a little more expensive on the weekend and holidays.

The hotel was pretty basic, but seemed clean and was not crowded at all – we barely saw anyone else! Because of Covid, they only come into the room to clean every three days, but since our whole stay was only three days, we had to request new sheet and towels, which they delivered to us outside the door.

They also did not have a normal breakfast buffet, but provided little grab bags of breakfast every morning, which included a banana, mini muffin, granola bar and mini water bottle. Definitely not the reason to stay but better than nothing lol.

The location was decent – close enough to drive to the beach in under ten minutes but not to walk to the beach. Plenty of parking right in front of the hotel which was super convenient. Overall would recommend staying here!

Eat

My main objectives during this trip were eat, chill and repeat! We definitely did a great job at that. Here are some of my favorite food and drink spots in Rehoboth:

Thrasher’s French Fries

This is a no brainer at the beach. Something about eating them on the beach makes them taste even better! They have several locations through Rehoboth and on the boardwalk.

Dreamer Juice

The first time I went to this little juice/coffee bar in Rehoboth a few years ago, I instantly fell in love because of the tropical aesthetic, which reminded me of Miami. I later found out that it is a Miami based company which randomly opened a location right on the main strip in Rehoboth, about a block from the beach. I have only tried their matcha (which was great!), but they also offer coffee, smoothies, acai bowls and other yummy treats.

Catcher’s

This is a casual seafood restaurant a bit further down the main strip by the beach, which we went to for dinner one night. I got the seafood skillet which comes with Old Bay spiced shrimp, scallops, lobster, vegetables and pineapple rice. Everything was well priced and the food was better than I expected! They have a small amount of patio seating in the front (sidewalk side), so if it’s a busy night I would call ahead for reservations.

Bluecoast Seafood Grill & Raw Bar

Another seafood restaurant further away from the beach (a few blocks up Coastal Highway from our hotel – definitely cannot walk here from the beach) where we got dinner another night. It is a very large and modern seafood restaurant, with a large menu that offers many food and drink options. We ordered a lot of food, and all of it was good! Some of my recommendations are fresh oysters, blackened scallops (sooo freaking good), and the crab stuffed jumbo shrimp. Since it is a large restaurant, you can probably just walk in like we did, but if you want to ensure you sit outside I would recommend making reservations!

Victoria’s Restaurant

This place was super confusing because the address on Google Maps brought us to a random neighborhood street corner, but the actual restaurant was on the boardwalk. Once we found it, we were pleasantly surprised by how romantic and scenic the patio seating was – we could see the beach from our table and it felt very intimate! The menu was pretty eclectic, with some things sounding very good and others very basic. I originally wanted to order the seared pistachio scallops, was told by the server it was small and ordered the lobster roll instead, but hated that so I ended up ordering the scallops anyway and they were BOMB! I honestly would have rather just ordered two servings of that than wasted my time with the lobster roll lol. Anyway, make sure you come here on a nice day that you can enjoy the beach view and sea breeze!

Fractured Prune

This donut shop is pretty famous in Rehoboth and Ocean City for their freshly made donuts with creative toppings (they have options to choose from or you can create your own). I realized after getting mine that I don’t really like donuts like that LOL but if you do then I definitely recommend checking this spot out!

The Point Coffee Shop & Bakery

Located across Coastal Highway from Fractured Prune, this little shop had TONS of options for coffee, pastries, and breakfast/brunch options. They had a whole section in the back where you can fill your cup with different coffee options! They have tons of seating outside, including a cute little rooftop, so don’t be afraid to get some food and hang out for a while.

Explore

The beach is an obvious option for spending your time here, but keep in mind that everyone else will be there for the beach as well! Even on a Wednesday, the beach was pretty packed and almost nobody was wearing a mask on the beach itself. We got lucky finding a spot in the back corner that was secluded, but I would HIGHLY suggest coming early and staking out a spot to claim your territory for the day!

In addition to the beach itself, you can walk down the boardwalk, up and down the main strip (Rehoboth Ave), Tanger Outlets, or even drive a little further south to Dewey Beach.

What I love about Rehoboth is that it is way more low-key than Ocean City (which is especially important right now!) and the streets by the beach have a cute neighborhood vibe to them. I loved walking around the streets by the beach and discovering cute little shops and restaurants, as well as just enjoying the relaxed vibe.

If you have any questions about my trip and/or are planning your own trip, let me know in the comments! Have a fun and safe LDW 😘
